Opening for Legendary Baby Gramps — Conway, Wa.

November 13, 2010 —

PIPER REVA WAS  TRULY HONORED TO OPEN UP FOR LEGENDARY BABY GRAMPS SATURDAY, NOV. 13, 8PM @THE CONWAY MUSE. CHECK OUT HIS YOUTUBE VIDEO FROM HIS APPEARANCE ON DAVID LETTERMAN. HIS ALBUM, “Rogue’s Gallery: Pirate Ballads, Sea Songs & Chanteys” was produced by Hal Willner and Johnny Depp to accompany the movie, “Pirates of The Caribbean 2″. This should be a fantastic show. His voice is Popeye The Sailor meets a Digeridoo. “Baby Gramps has created a highly developed and completely original musical concoction that is easily the most intriguing synthesis to come out of the roots revival of the late 20th Century.” ~ Glenn Howard, American Musical Heritage Foundation

Baby Gramps was the nicest, soft-spoken friendly gent behind the scenes. He spent a great deal of time with Piper that evening, giving tips on the business (of which he has been a part for many decades) The combination of her act and his was a most delightful complementary combo. Fabulous evening. What an honor.

Bayview Farmer’s Market — Bayview, Wa.

October 30, 2010 — Piper Reva was gifted the position of being the final performer at the closing day of Bayview Farmer’s Market 2010 season. The vendors were a glorious, colorful display of Whidbey Island’s local organic produce, craftspeople and magicians.

She played for 3 hours, filling the streets with song while patrons strolled the market smiling and shopping.

The winds were strong and the sun was shining. Piper’s set was covered in a vast array of silks and sheers, all blowing like the gates of Heaven around her. What a beautiful way to spend the afternoon.

The Conway Muse — Skagit Valley, WA.

October 29, 2010 — Piper Reva, after a fine sweep of The San Juan Islands, took The Muse stage by storm with a mighty new perspective and new songs to boot. Washed clean, she was, and full of spunk. A very high-energy night, indeed. This was a glorious show, with a packed house of laughing, clapping folk — teary-eyed and giggling. . . with the occasional standing ovation. What a warm welcome back to the mainland!

Special guests: Aviathar Pemberton on the old-timey piano and The One and Only Dr. Richard Swetman aka “BongoMan”.

Goldeneye Apple Festival — Orcas Island, WA.

October 24, 2010 — Piper Reva was an honorary performer at The Goldeneye Festival on Orcas Island. The stage was cozy and warm, sheltered from a drizzling chilly northwestern afternoon.  The grounds were crawling with apple-pickin’, smile-givin’ boys and girls from 2 to 82 years old. This was one heck of a sweet homegrown harvest! These folks are SERIOUS about apples. Pressing and squashing and picking and picking and pressing and squashing and picking and picking….. oooooooooooooh   wheeeeeeeee, How ’bout dem APPLES???? !!!!!!

THE CIDER WAS TO DIE FOR.

In fact, Miss Reva was born again after strumming and humming through the orchard with Ben on Bass and Andrew on Drums. What a hoot. What a humpity-dumpity salute to a Sunday afternoon! What a fantastic set.

We’ll see you next year, boys and girls. Mark my word. Goldeneye Apples…… a sinfully sweet island serenade.

FIRE Smokehouse– EastSound Village, Orcas Island

October 22, 2010 — Piper Reva went a’blazing through FIRE with some smokin’ soul tunes to keep a Friday night Cookin’ under the full moon. The set was complete with candles all around and red tapestries randomly adorning the walls in a hap-hazard mess of heat.

Girl couldn’t cool her jets enough to keep jewelry from flying off her fingers once she got a ‘Whailing at glass-breaking decibels. Rings and bracelets were soaring across the room and any chair that could swivel was swivelin’, all right.

Apologies to those who felt they had rights to said jewels.

Gratitude to Tracy and Everett who produced, not only a GIGANTIC family of infinitely curious youngins, but a most-welcoming haven for a fiery feline.

The Doe Bay Cafe– Orcas Island, WA.

October 21, 2010 — What an evening. A very intimate exchange of artistic vision and values spat forth between Piper Reva and renowned Beatnik poet Michael McClure…… set stories a’sailing across the waves of island news…..

now, there’s a new song coming from that exchange …. keep your eyes and ears open for it.

Again, The Doe Bay Resort and Retreat is a place to be seen, soaked, and savored.

Piper Reva has been submerged in hot tubs, paint, gardens, deer, crows, apples, sunsets, saunas and songs at this darling little secret spot by the sea. They don’t advertise, they rely on word-of-mouth, so let it be muttered….. Doe Bay Resort and Retreat. Simply Beautiful.

Pioneer Park Amphitheater– La Conner, WA.

October 17, 2010 — Piper Reva, among many other talented soundsmiths, braved the chill of autumn’s snap for an outdoor concert overlooking The Rainbow Bridge in beautiful La Conner, Washington.

The event was centered around a story of love and war for Bill Jordan and his daughter, Charity-Dakota. Without going into great detail, let us just say that the legal system don’t make it easy for custody rights of children. This event was created in support of such an injustice.

The fire was warm, the food delectable, the audience a gracious and happy lot.

Heck, it looks like Piper Reva has been asked to do children’s shows with costumes and howdy-ho-ho-ho’s for holiday cheer throughout the schools. What fun fun fun. Let’s do it, kiddos!

Special thanks to Phillip Nakano, an extraordinary soprano saxophone player and percussionist, whose back-up made Piper’s microphone quiver.

Lower Tavern — EastSound Village, Orcas Island, WA.

October 12, 2010 — Behold! A raucous gritty tavern right smack-dab in the belly of beautiful Orcas Island! Piper Reva was accompanied by 5 musical islanders (all plugged in) for a GIGANTIC sound blasting through the caverns of The Lower Tavern. She sang with volume cranked to overdrive and the boys behind her were like toystore toddlers! My Goodness, were the tunes a’screamin!

In fact, that girl has never gotten her rock-n-roll on quite like this before. Apparently, from the words of various patrons and dancers, Janis Joplin took over the body of lil’ miss reva and shook the goshdarn earth up just a bit before she returned to The Cosmos.

Had Piper been aware of such a channeling of soul coming on, she might have dressed for the occasion, rather than clomping on in with those clowny, mud and paint-ridden garden boots.

Thanks to Paul and Ken for superb provisions.

The Doe Bay Cafe — Orcas Island, WA.

October 7, 2010 –The Doe Bay Cafe sits over Otter Cove in the magical world of Orcas Island’s eastern tip. Piper Reva is certain she was led to this sacred spot by the Siren of Serenity Herself. This performance was so rich and raw, fluid with grace and gratitude….. it was just the beginning of a trickle of gifts presented by Lady Orcas, in the lovin’ arms of Doe Bay.

By all means, check out Doe Bay Resort and Retreat.

The tubs are hot, the waterfall cool, and the saunas steamy.

With live music, fresh organic produce from the garden, a stroll along the rocky shore, and a sunset over the San Juans…… what more could one wish for on a chapter’s renewal journey?

Friday Harbor — San Juan Island, WA.

October 6, 2010 — Piper Reva was the musical hostess of a private onboard boat party teeming with vacationing aviators, abundant with good Scotch and great ChexMix in the midnight waters of Friday Harbor, just off the coast of San Juan Island.

This boat was rockin’.

Piper, coming from a family of pilots and named after an airplane, was a welcome guest with many shared stories of flying the friendly skies.
